Kev Waite Art - My Story
I have been an artist now for 15 years, selling and exhibiting my paintings. I crafted my skills through my BA Hons Fine Art Degree from Southampton Solent University.
I live with the mental health illness bipolar disorder (severe changes in mood), as well as living with a neurological disorder called FND (functional neurological disorder). Producing artwork has always acted as therapy for me for both of these conditions.
Painting allows me to escape my mental illness and express how I feel, which enables me to feel more balanced and in more control of the illness. Painting also helps with the neurological disorder as it calms down the symptoms I experience, which include muscle tremors, issues with speech, issues with balance, and muscle weakness. All in all, I would be lost without my artwork!
I think my artwork shows both of these conditions I live with, in terms of the contrasting styles and colours, as well as the fascination I have with line and shape. I also produce photography and try to create photographs that share characteristics with my style of painting.
I am always happy to take on new commissions, so if you have something in mind that you feel I could put my stamp on then get in touch!
